Widow’s Bay
Bring the mystery of Widow's Bay ashore with an evening of seaside suppers, forgotten folklore, and strange happenings carried in by the fog.
Welcome guests to a Widow's Bay party inspired by forgotten shipwrecks, local curses, and generations of whispered folklore. From maritime menus and handcrafted games to interactive mysteries and seaside curiosities, you'll find everything you need to host a Halloween gathering with a legend all its own.
A themed party best hosted during the Summerween and Halloween seasons.
The Town’s History
Equal parts cozy coastal mystery and horror, "Widow's Bay" turns an ordinary fishing village into a place where witches, sea legends, headless landmarks, and masked killers all feel perfectly at home. The result is a wonderfully eclectic world where centuries of local lore collide with the strange happenings of the present.

Tonight’s Festivities
-
Guests each receive a numbered card containing part of the Captain's forgotten tale. Fill in the missing words, then combine the cards in order as the host reads the complete legend aloud. No two stories are ever quite the same.
-
Each guest receives a sealed envelope and, one by one, must close the door and step before a mirror and whisper "Ugly Hortense" three times before opening it. Most leave relieved. A few may discover they weren't alone after all... and those who conjure Hortense earn a special prize.
-
Hosting a smaller affair? Enjoy a haunted twist on the classic game of Old Maid. Match pairs, avoid the Sea Hag, and hope she doesn't follow you home from Widow's Bay.
-
Help Patricia finish preparing for her famous Sunset Cocktails by pinning the crow into the punch bowl. Inspired by one of Widow's Bay's most delightfully unsettling moments, this macabre twist on a classic party game is quick, absurd, and just a little cursed.
Time to Serve the Punch
Take a cue from local haunts like The Salty Whale and Barnabus Tavern with a menu of seafood, comforting tavern fare, homemade desserts, and, naturally, plenty of punch. Serve it all family-style for a spread that feels pulled straight from a foggy night on the harbor.

The Itinerary
-
Guests arrive, explore the décor, grab a glass of punch, and enjoy hors d'oeuvres inspired by The Salty Whale and Barnabus Tavern while the fog rolls in.
-
Guests work together to complete the Captain's story one sentence at a time. Once every card has been read aloud, the town's latest legend is revealed.
-
Gather around the table for a New England-inspired dinner.
-
Refill your glass, mingle, and try your hand at Dunk the Crow before someone mistakes the punch ingredients for something... less than appetizing.
-
One by one, guests step into a quiet room to summon Hortense three times before opening their sealed envelope. Some return relieved. Others return... changed.
-
Serve coconut cream pie, coffee, cider, and other sweet treats while guests swap theories about the strange happenings around town.
-
Enjoy one final cocktail, revisit your favorite games, and linger a little longer, because no one ever seems to leave Widow's Bay exactly when they planned.
Set the scene with curated decor, party supplies, and tabletop finds that capture Widow's Bay's peculiar coastal charm. Mix nautical details with vintage tableware and a few witchy curiosities for a setting that feels collected rather than conventionally Halloween.

It’s Your Turn
Feeling like you could die tomorrow and no one would notice? Well, that could be. But the right party can change that. Are you ready to be THE PERFECT HOSTESS?
Setting Up
Your Honor Bar
For guests who prefer something a little stronger than Patricia's punch, take a cue from the inn and set up an honor bar of your own. Set out a few favorite spirits alongside go-to mixers like soda water, tonic and ginger beer. Add plenty of ice, cocktail glasses, swizzle sticks, citrus wedges and a few simple garnishes, then let guests help themselves throughout the evening.
Keep your guests honest with this free downloadable sign-up sheet inspired by the inn's notoriously well-monitored honor bar. Print it out, place it beside your bar with a pen and instruct everyone to fill out the form.
Kathy’s Notes
-
People always say they aren't hungry.
Five minutes later they're asking where the food is. Put out the appetizers before everyone arrives and save yourself the complaints.
-
Hand out the brooches, pour the punch, and let people compare fortunes while everyone trickles in.
It keeps strangers talking, which means they aren’t asking when dinner's ready.
-
If something burns...
If the printer jams...
If somebody drops the pie...
Nobody knows what the original plan was except you.
Act like you meant to do it.
If all else fails, sub in a turkey patty and a sausage link and call it a day.
“All it takes is one great party to change your life."
