Adeline Ravoux was the innkeeper's daughter at the Ravoux Inn, where Vincent van Gogh resided during his time in Auvers-sur-Oise, and where he later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After his death, she wrote a memoir of his stay with them. Recalling Van Gogh's return to the inn after the fatal incident, she wrote: "Vincent walked bent, holding his stomach, again exaggerating his habit of holding one shoulder higher than the other.
